Hi there lovelies! How’s it going? It was super busy morning for me last Friday. Normally I am a morning person, but the night before I got caught up in setting up my blog plannerand went to bed a little late.
As a result, I hit snooze button a little bit much that Friday morning and slept in. Before I knew it, we were late by at least half an hour. At SV’s school they have the policy of dropping the kids by 930, otherwise it’s ta ta bye bye and see you next day!
So I skipped my regular breakfast of cereal and granola and went straight to my blender. I quickly scanned all the fruits and vegetables in my fridge and freezer.
Finally I decided to make myself breakfast smoothie with banana and yes, cranberries – a new ingredient. Something I had never tried before in a smoothie! I had used cranberries few months ago to make this cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. I totally forgot about them being in the freezer after that! So this was a good excuse to use them.
And, boy, was I in for a surprise?
I wasn’t expecting anything delicious out of this smoothie – just healthier!
Cranberries are the superfoods that are high in antioxidants, loaded with vitamin C and rich in fiber. Bananas are high in potassium. I also added buttermilk, high in vitamin D. You can instead use soy milk or almond milk.
I also added a tablespoon of honey. This Cranberry and Banana Smoothie strikes the right balance between the tart flavor of cranberries and sweetness of bananas and honey. Enjoy this beautiful pink smoothie for your morning breakfast. I did!
It may have ended up as a stressful morning, but this smoothie was such an uplifting drink that helped me start my day on a much better note. And yes, SV was able to reach his preschool just in time.
If you happen to make this delicious breakfast smoothie, please upload on Instagram and hashtag #thisgirlsrecipes. I’d love to see your creations.
