Yayy …. Spring is almost here! That means fresh berries will soon be available in the local stores and farmer’s markets. There’s so much that you can do with blueberries. Last year I baked these healthy avocado blueberry muffins. They were one of the popular snacks among my friends, co workers and my son’s friends.
This year I think I am more into smoothies. Look at my smoothies section. Even I had no idea I was becoming a smoothie girl until I looked back my smoothie recipes. I think I am loving guzzling up on these healthy drinks. I feel more refreshed, healthy and who doesn’t love a quick easy breakfast.
Blueberry Banana Detox Smoothie is one of my go to smoothies early in the morning. Not only is it energy boosting, but it tastes wonderful. This healthy and easy smoothie is even perfect for post workout routine or for sipping in the hot afternoon warm summer days.
I used frozen blueberries combined with frozen bananas for this smoothie. I don’t have to add any ice with frozen fruit. We have tried it with fresh fruit and ice as well, but it really waters down this smoothie, changing the taste of this otherwise delicious drink.
To make it healthier, I add omega 3 and healthy fat rich flaxseeds. The anti inflammatory properties of flaxseeds help promote bone health and protect against heart disease. Besides all these health benefits, we love to add flaxseeds because of the crunchy texture. To make it sweeter, add honey as per your taste.
Blueberry Banana Detox Smoothie Recipe
This healthy, easy and quick to make blueberry banana detox smoothie is perfect for post workout routine or for hot afternoon warm summer afternoons.
- 1/2 cup Blueberries fresh or frozen
- 1/2 Banana
- 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Flax Seeds
- 6 ounces Water more if smoothie is too thick
- 1 tsp Honey more if you like it sweet
Combine all the ingredients in the blender. Blend until it reaches your desired consistency.
