I don’t eat breakfast often enough. Mostly, because my body insists on coffee first thing in the morning. Often, I find I am not ravenously hungry until I’ve been awake for at least a couple of hours. Then before I know it, it’s time for dinner. This is something I’m trying to change. I really should eat more often than I do.
This week, I decided to entice my tummy with something wholesome. Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oats Recipe.
Steel cut oats are also known as pinhead oats, Irish or Scottish oats. These oats come from the interior of the oat kernel, and are packed with protein and fiber. And, they are available certified gluten-free. If you’re looking to try something new, I suggest you give steel cut oats a try.

In a 2 quart pot - sprayed with nonstick cooking spray if needed - bring the water and sea salt to a boil. Add the steel cut oats and chopped apple. Cover with a lid. Reduce the heat and cook for 10-20 minutes, depending on the desired texture. A longer cooking time will yield a more tender cereal.
