Give Me Fish Oil Please

Fish oil with omega 3 fatty acids is in the news over and over again with researchers touting its lifetime of health benefits.

So, what are the benefits of fish oil?

The many benefits of the omega 3 oils found in fish oil start with conception and end up with a lower chance of Alzheimers. The benefits also include higher intelligence levels, fewer migraines and other headaches, reduced incidence and pain from arthritis, heart disease protection, less incidence of depression and bipolar, and even protection from breast cancer and prostate cancer.

So let's start with conception. Both men and women need the correct amounts of EPA and DHA for healthy conception to take place. In a man's body, the omega 3 fatty acids are responsible for strong sperm, while in a woman's body, they're vital for healthy egg production.

After conception, the new baby's brain calls on the mother's store of omega 3 fatty acids to develop a healthy and intelligent brain. Fish has traditionally been known as brain food. And now we have the science to back that up. Researchers now know that almost 70 % of an infant's brain tissue and more than 60% of a mature brain consist omega 3 fatty acids – and even more specifically DHA (which comes from fish oil).

This information is so important that the world renowned National Institutes of Health has released their suggested guideline of 1200 mg of fish oil for pregnant and nursing women.

The National Institutes of Health also recommends that all other adults consume at least 1000 mg of omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil a day. Take a look at the reasons for following this recommendation.

Clinical studies have revealed that fish oil with EPA and DHA is extremely effective in preventing, reducing and treating inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, bursitis, cystitis and other painful disorders.

And, even though it doesn't cure these diseases, fish oil does give safe, natural relief without the negative side effects of most drugs.

The omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA have also been shown to lower blood pressure, decrease your bad cholesterol and increase your good cholesterol and help prevent heart disease.

And, as if all of the above fish oil benefits were not enough, new research is pointing towards positive results in the areas of Alzheimer's disease and cancer.

By now it's obvious that the health benefits of taking omega 3s from fish are exceedingly positive. But a recent study showed that eighty-five percent of the American population are deficient in these fatty acids.

How about this one? Nearly one-fifth of the American population is so low in DHA and EPA that test methods were not able to detect any omega 3s in their blood.

Are you and your family deficient? Here's what you need to do. The first step is to get more high omega 3 fish in your daily diet. The fish high in omega 3s are tuna, salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines. You should also start taking a high quality, pure fish oil supplement on a daily basis.
